EOC Week 5; The Best and Worse Super Bowl Commercial
Eoc Week 5; The Best and Worse Super Bowl Commercials 2011
The best Super Bowl commercial for 2011 was the, “Ozzy and Bieber Commercial.” In my option this was one of the most memorable commercials of the super bowl. The commercial was for Best Buys new, “ buy back promotion.” They explained in this commercial that, “technology is ever changing, don’t get left behind.” Best Buy in this commercial had an older celebrity trying to describe a new technology like the, “6g network.” Ozzy Osborn was having trouble with the, “6G”so they brought in a replacement. They replaced, Ozzy Osborn with one of the new hottest teen celebrity today, “ Justin Bieber.” In the end Ozzy, Sharon Osborn, and “older Justin” they are talking to each other, asking what is, “6G” and “what is a Bieber.”

The Worse commercial of Super Bowl 2011, was Groupon.com commercial with Timothy Hutton. This commercial was is for getting half off food in your area, well for half the price. This commercial according to sbnation.com this is the number one worst commercial, and they could have not gotten it right. I wouldn’t have remembered this commercial if it wasn’t from google.com. Being every businesses target market, they should have picked a younger actor, and well a younger actor. This commercial was boring, not impressive. The cinematography was not impressive either. So let hope if Groupon.com is still in business they can do better. Will this commercial be the last one ever? Who knows, only time will tell.

Tabaco Advertisements
In this advertisement Santa Clause has a present and what might this present be, but a carton of Camel Cigarettes. The scenario in this advertisement is that you should give everyone carton of Camel cigarettes for Christmas. “There is no other way to say Merry Christmas.” The people or group this advertisement is referring to or targeted towards; is everyone who loves Christmas. Who has the love of Christmas a much as “old Saint Nick.” The goal of this advertisement is, for people; who ever it is mom, dad, friend, colleague, and neighbor to buy a carton of Camel Cigarettes as a Christmas gift. They are saying, “ Santa Say’s it’s ok!” Santa Clause would gift Camel cigarettes, so should you. Their perceptions of this advertisements is that it’s so merry is very simple, but for this time period effective. Santa who loves children and brings happiness and joy to all of the children around the world likes Camels. That he would gift them, so should the consumer! I think the out come of their advertisement is to share, the happiness and joy of Christmas by, giving a carton of camel cigarettes!

Eoc: Week 1

Week 1:BOC
Volkswagen Lemon add! Why is this important?
This ad is known as the, “Lemon” ad, this ad first premiered in 1960. This ad had impacted advertisements, for all. When you look at this add you may think that this is bad for Volkswagen, or why is this important?
Volkswagen was founded in 1937, at this time German cars were still based on luxury. These cars were; big, spacious and not affordable. During the 1930’s Germans could barely afford a scoters. They wanted to reach a bigger market, so what they did was hoped on the band wagon of smaller cars. German engineering would never believe the future ahead. In the early 1960’s Volkswagen made a new car, we know it now as the “Beetle”, “The Bug”. This was the car to catch that unreachable market. During the 1960’s DDB advertisement agency did a ad for Volkswagen, Lemon. The reason why this ad is so important to advertising is because it had humor. Adverting in the 1960’s were there to pursue the audience, not grab the attention. This ad agency changed that by creating a humors ad. The idea of this ad was to grab the audience’s attention rather than pursue them! With that notion DDB advertisement agency changed the attitude of advertisements. “We plucked the lemons; you get the plums.”
